Diana is 68 years old and takes care of four grand-children. One of her daughters was abducted by the Lord’s Resistance Army and died in the bush. A few years ago, Diana learned she had a granddaughter still living with the rebels. She was able to get the young girl back. The years spent in the bush were deeply traumatizing and the girl doesn’t speak, but every day she gets better. Diana is a farmer and a participant in the Field Cop and Permagarden programs. The increase in food has helped pay for school fees and medical care. Diana herself is a student at one of AWR’s 44 adult literacy centers. Through the center she visited an AWR eye clinic and had cataract surgery which has greatly improved her quality of life.
